Description
The interface card 927FL-Z748-02 monitors the state of up to 8 Honeywell railwheel sensors (RDS80001/RDS80002 Series) simultaneously, as well as the wires connecting them to the interface card. A green and a red LED for each sensor permits visual inspection of the sensor output and highlights any sensor fault condition. All inputs and outputs are protected against transients and overvoltage. Sensor output from the RDS80001/RDS80002 Series is a digital low current output, and the interface card converts this to an open collector NPN output.
Operation
Inputs to the card use a 16 Vdc supply voltage. The card can handle up to eight sensors. Unused sensor inputs should have a 1k resistor connected to prevent the LEDs indicating a sensor fault. A lamp test input allows LEDs to be checked. This is achieved by applying power to the input. Outputs are NPN, with one output for each sensor. Each output can sink up to 100 mA when the sensor corresponding to that output detects a wheel.
Installation
The interface card is produced as a single European board (100 mm x 160 mm) with a 64 pole DIN connector (DIN 41612 C 64 POL). Pin connection details are given on circuit schematic. These refer to the 'A' and 'C' terminals marked on the connector.
